Education
Jairos Jiri Association founded in 1950 was mainly for vocational skills. People with disabilities who were taken from the streets by Jairos Jiri were trained to do leather craft. Later on city council donated a Beer hall at Nguboyenja and it was turned into a primary school. The Primary school was later transferred to Mukuwapasi- Rusape which was mainly for children with physical disabilities. Later Harare centre was also opened as a primary school for children with physical disabilities. Then Kadoma school for the blind primary school was later found and finally Gweru Naran Centre for the hearing impaired. Bulawayo Centre was then developed into a Vocational Training Centre where people with disabilities are trained vocational skills. Children who are enrolled at Jairos Jiri schools are mainly from Jairos Jiri Association operational areas. Since 1950 Jairos Jiri Schools were specifically for children with disabilities however the Association’s Board resolved that the schools enroll 2/3 being children with disabilities and 1/3 being children without disabilities (integration)
