Kadoma School for the Blind

Kadoma School for the Blind is located in Kadoma, 140 km west of Harare Zimbabwe’s capital city. The school was established by the Jairos Jiri Association in 1964 and moved to the present location in 1981. Kadoma School which has an enrolment capacity of 200 offers primary education and training in skills of daily living as well as pre-vocational training skills in arts and crafts is one of the biggest and most modern of its kind in Zimbabwe. Apart from providing primary education for children with visual impairments also provides hostelling for visually impaired secondary school students who have been integrated in nearby schools. Infrastructure and equipment at the centre comprise of School buildings, dormitories and staff accommodation, Braille teaching equipment, Braille library, boreholes and irrigation equipment. The centre recently got a secondary school status from the Kadoma local authorities and has since enrolled pupils for secondary education for the calendar year 2014.
