Waterfalls Centre

Waterfalls Children Centre is located 10 km south of Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. It was established in 1979 by Jairos Jiri Association and caters for severely disabled children between the ages 3 to 8. The centre has an enrolment capacity 43 boarding pupils and 30 day scholars. The project only admits children from mostly rural areas where quality rehabilitation services are non existant or limited. They administer intensive therapy care and school preparation programmes. The centre provides pre-school and treatment to children with severe disabilities. Integration of non-disabled children was introduced seven years ago at the centre and since then many disabled and non-disabled children have benefited from the programme. It also has a Hydrotherapy pool for treatment of children at the Centre, Harare Centre and other surrounding hospitals. The centre has in the past years successfully prepared pupils for primary education in other institutions such as Harare centre among others. The centre has specified criteria which they use to select and enrol clients for the institution. The procedure entails assessments on required cabalities. The procedures are put in place to ensure that selected clients will be able to meaningfully benefit from various activities offered at the centre for the betterment of their lives.
