Welcome Note from the Jairos Jiri Association President

For the past six decades the Jairos Jiri Association has evolved into a unique humanitarian and developmental agency which has continued to function as a great catalyst in the transformation of lives of people with disabilities in Zimbabwe. Through the 60 years of growth and maturity coupled with the inspiring vision of its leaders, the success of this great organization can be attributed to a philosophy that is worth recording. It is our belief that every struggle for betterment of social order and human development is accompanied by differences of opinion but what matters is the fruit of the tree.

The Jairos Jiri Association also believes in the need to enhance independence, dignity and self confidence of people with disabilities. The National Executive Committee (the Board) continued with its involvement in the life of the organization, through the robust functioning of various organs. Our biggest challenge is to address those features of our structures that can best support developmental practices policies that promote the well being of people with disabilities. Working in close collaboration with management we together formed an intricate and resilient system of organizational security which responded timely and effectively to the Association’s needs and as a strong team we attained milestones in deepening our rehabilitation agenda. However this daunting task could not have been possible without the necessary funding and many other related resources.

On behalf of Jairos Jiri Association, I wish to record our heartfelt appreciation to our many loyal partners and well wishers both at home and abroad for their invaluable support which enabled us to realize positive results in our diverse activities during a very difficult socio-economic environment.

I wish to acknowledge and pay tribute to our National Executive Director Mr W N Ruvere and all members of staff   who serve in various categories for their great dedication and commitment to duty despite the very difficult conditions under which they serve.  The work has been challenging to us all and it has to be mentioned that without the interest and understanding of the People With Disabilities that we are there to serve, this formidable task could not have been undertaken. Last but not least, I wish to thank the diplomatic missions, the donor community, service clubs, public and private sectors, churches, schools, local authorities and the general public of Zimbabwe who rallied behind the organization and afforded us the much needed support. Please keep up the commendable spirit!
